Are YOU Dazed and Confused?

Executive orders have been available to the executive branch since our first President.  These executive orders have been used by Presidents when certain executive decisions have to be ordered for what the executive branch feels is in the best interest of the country.  They can be overturned by the legislative branch should the legislative branch pass legislation that invalidates the order, or the legislative branch can refuse to fund the order to fulfill the policy being implemented.  Nonetheless, the legislative branch should act.

Let’s fast forward now to our current legislative branch.  What do you see?  I see a bunch of freeloading do nothings getting paid for absolutely nothing!    535 members of Congress leeching off the American taxpayer to the yearly tune of $174,000 a year plus other benefits, not including PAC and lobbyist money.  With all the committees and subcommittees in place what do you find them doing? Trying to discredit the opposing party to gain political power over our national treasure. And the media just keeps the drama and propaganda going so the common American gets consumed with fear, mistrust, division and an uncertain future.  Add inflation, corporate and wholesale profit margin increases, local, state and federal taxes, consumer costs increase, medical costs, student loans and stale wages to the mix and now we have anger, frustration, anxiety and fear of the unknown.  All the while Congress just collects their paycheck, cuts backroom deals for political favors, accumulates donations, and portray themselves as patriotic Americans saving the country from ruin.  Why are the hard issues affecting Americans today not being debated and crafted for legislation?  Issues such as immigration, school shootings, mass shootings, foreign trade, employment, mental illness, housing, addiction, crime, government spending….the list goes on and on.  Notice I didn’t say abortion, gun control, or the separation of church and state?  Those are for separate blogs. These issues just didn’t appear. Just like an untreated wound these issues have been left untreated for scores and decades to manifest into a social infection evolving now into a cancer.   Yes, through my life I have seen the decline of Congress and our complacency in not ensuring checks and balances as a taxpayer.  We allowed the emergence of the career Federal politician, the overwhelming control of the two political powers, and a lackadaisical populace asleep at the wheel.  This trend has got to stop.  I have an idea but hey you just have to keep reading.

Since we are now programmed and indoctrinated to just follow our news sources and their narratives we gleefully wait to be spoon fed their propaganda.  Although as common citizens and consumers we don’t seem to mind.  We just stay captive and energized by all the confusion, noise and distractions all in the name of freedom and our Constitutional rights (whatever that means).  And Congress just flounders and detracts with infighting, name calling, and what ever else works to control us.

Then comes the executive branch, another elected position. Because of this branch being an elected position executive decisions have to be made so their legacy can be remembered in history. And because there is usually no other option.  It seems we have adapted to executive orders as a normal function of governance.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  We are allowing the birth of a dictatorship right before our eyes and we either don’t realize how we have evolved or we are so consumed by political distractions we just don’t care.  So here we are.  And the next election seems like the same song and dance from the legislative branch.  But the executive branch seems to be preparing for pure executive decrees.  Are you ready for a dictatorship?  Unless Congress legislates the hard issues be prepared.  A dictatorship is coming.  And the American public is just sleeping through it all dazed and confused.

And yes, I know the Judicial branch can intervene, but the question is….will they and how will they decide?
